Paths into Australian Medicine - Flowchart

That would be true for universities that offer first round interviews - which are conducted before ATAR results are released (and hence they only look at UMAT score, even though they may end up using ATAR in their final selection process). UWS, UNSW, JMP just to name a few (although, some of...

Witnessed cheating. What do I do?

This is like one of those ethical scenarios they ask you for medicine interviews lol. Friendship or ethics. There's no wrong or right answer and both has solid arguments.

    Is 99+ achievable

Hello? Armidalian here too :> Didn't realise there could be BOSers in this small rural town :p

MedEntry workshop trial exam - disappointed with percentiles

Yea most people don't finish the exam. Well, most people don't do well enough to get into med... so that's not something that you can set a baseline with if you know what I mean. I'd imagine that you need to have had a good attempt at ALL questions if you want to have a realistic chance of...

Year 12 2016 Student Question (Getting into Medicine GAMSAT)

Some Unis have entry requirements as low as 93 or something. Even lower if you are from a rural background (I don't think you are since your school is fairly highly ranked). But yea, poke around in google

Year 12 2016 Student Question (Getting into Medicine GAMSAT)

Not all uni's have 99 ATAR requirement - I think most don't although 99 helps. UMAT/Interview is also used!

Yep they are still for sale :) (and sample is sent) Sorry for the late reply, as I don't check this thread often. Shooting a PM is preferred

Medicine at UNSW or Newcastle JMP

True, true. There is a research component in the MD coming in 2017 though (JMP) if you're keen beans on getting some research experience (although research is probably limited given the small amount time and even more limited at UNE where there is a lack of resources...)

Medicine at UNSW or Newcastle JMP

The BMed or soon to be MD (JMP) is just as qualified as the degree you get at UNSW (you also do the same surgical stuff...). It's a funny story, but apparently Newcastle decided that they wanted to be different to the rest, so they decided to cut out the "bachelor of surgery" from the "bachelor...

    Uni vs HSC

A lot easier than having the pressure to score full marks (or like, at least 90+...) in the HSC. I spent majority of the day (by majority I mean almost all!) during the HSC studying. Nowadays I spend the majority of my day wasting time on non uni stuff (such as youtube/games/facebook and the...

    Uni vs HSC

I felt like Uni is a lot less stressful than the HSC. Partly because passing is like 50%? Partly because you don't have 6 hours of class every day starting at 8am ...

Medicine at UNSW or Newcastle JMP

Apply to both? Then choose the one that accepts you. Most people are lucky to get 1 med offer, let alone have a choice between universities. But in case you're wondering, they're like the same but Newcastle has a shorter course whereas UNSW has a research year (and also probably closer to home)

    Griffith Med Sci question

    Wow, that's crazy high lol

    Medentry percentiles are ridiculous

Percentiles can be misleading. When I used to do it, I got like 105~ and that was 90+ percentile. You're not too far off :)

TORN between Medicine and Dentistry (Please read and don't judge) Advice Please

Medicine! Can't think of any reason why you'd choose dentistry over medicine (except money, lifestyle) because there's just so many specialties in medicine that you're bound to find something you like (contrast to dentistry, which only works with teeth and that area). *I am biased *There are...

How's free time like in uni?

Too much free time ! There are assignments and stuff but they're just a few day's work and they're no more. Most people cram assessments in the last 2 weeks as well (which isn't a good thing, but gets people through).

Students who achieved an ATAR of 85+, what did you do differently?

Applies to uni as well (spamming Khan Academy videos in the week leading to the exam). Only thing is that they don't cover everything you need to know, and not necessarily at the depth you need to know them. However, I guess for the purposes of attaining 85 ATAR it should be good enough?

    Economics State Rank Cutoff?

Probably because your mark was 96.5 (which rounds to 97) when the cutoff was 97. Did you get 96 and 97 exam/assess? (or something similar) You likely misheard. Maybe 98 was only his exam mark (not HSC mark)? Someone told me that if 2 students receive the same HSC mark, they use the essays as...

Buying HSC Raw marks... Why is BOSTES taking so long?

Few weeks (definitely took a while). That was when I got them anyway
