My school does not let us choose our own subjects!

My school allows you to do whatever subjects you want. The teachers only can suggest the students at my school to choose a particular course or not to do it. But most students know that they can't do a subject. For example, pretty much failing Year 10 Maths and wanting to EE2 Maths in Year 12...

    Preliminary Exams

I started my first exam - English. So all Advance & Standard students did the same exam paper about Journey. I was talking to my friend who is in the other Standard class to me, we thought we were slightly disadvantaged to the Advance with the comprehension. Then her class, since her teacher is...

How much study do you do per day in Yr 11?

Agreed with everyone who said about study habits. Year 11 is the year where you find what's comfortable with studying and it's the base of Year 12, the wood of a boat. If you find a good way to study then Year 12 will be a walk in a park.

    Preliminary Exams

My exams start this week and next week. My first exam, and majority of people in my year, is tomorrow and it's English. My exams are spread out, three this week (English, Japanese and Modern) then 3 the next (Art, Religion, Drama). GOOD LUCK TO ALL YEAR 11!

    Choosing Japanese extension.

Yeah, I was looking at the past paper and I was thinking about it. It's DO-ABLE!

    Work Experience

My school it was compulsorary to do it. If you didn't do Work Experience, Camp (I did Surfing Camp), School Certificate, or Activity Week(s), then you couldn't go to the Formal. One girl couldn't go to one of the camps because they left on her holy day and she didn't tell the school until closer...

    Consideration for my yearly exams

Thank you. The councilor knows about my mental illnesses and she is only here on Tuesdays at the high school (she is at the Junoir and Prep schools in other days as well as working somewhere else). I have a Tutor (like homeroom) and I won't see him until probably tomorrow (since my first exam...

    Consideration for my yearly exams

I been diagnosed with Depression and recently ADD (Asjustment Definicy Disorder) and I am living with my mum's friend who has a daughter aged 12. I can't get to sleep because I can hear them talking until like 11-12 at night and they are always loud and whenever mum steps in it's always as if I...

    Hmmm study pressure?

Do past papers or in case of maths, questions out of the text book/go and do mathletics or maths online. I do past papers but I haven't really started studying and my first exam is English Standard on Tuesday (both Standard and Advance at my school is imitating the first paper of the HSC where...

What Do You Think of Your Prelim Subjects?

Hating Modern History at the moment, my yearly exam for that is on Wednesday and half of the things that she mentioned that we are supposed to know for the exams, I swear she never taught us that. Then one topic that we did, Russian Revolution is totally out of our exam so it's pretty much a...

    Age Difference

If it's during High School, then 3 years max either way (younger or older), 4 years is reasonable, but if it's 5-6 years then it's awkward and at that stange is not really appropriate due to maturity etc. But after you graduate, then I don't mind the gap as such. I like/used to like a person...

    Student- Teacher relationships

18+ if you want to be friends etc with teachers since you are considered as an "adult" at that age. I like/liked my Japanese teacher, didn't work out because she was straight and has a boyfriend.

    Absence Limit

I thought that you have to attend 80-85% of your classes in the school year, and if you don't attend without a valid reason (like being sic etc), the teachers and BoS CAN fail you right there and then.

Thoughts and reflections on your Yr 11 subjects?

SORII is amazing. For ancient religions we did Vikings, and we did an assessment about an ancient religion and I did Shinto, it's really interesting. One person is doing SORI so she attends some of our classes that actually correspondes to the topics that she is doing e.g Islam, Christianity...

Open High School - your opinion

For those who attend/attending Open High School, what is your opinion on the school? Was it a bad experience or a good one? Did you like doing the language via correspondence or did/do you hate it? I am doing Japanese Continuers through it and disliking it, I have a bad experience involving a...

Is BOS blocked at your school?

I remember in year 8 seeing year 11s going on the UK's Myspace to get on. Tumblr hasn't been blocked at my school, but Facebook has. Sometimes YouTube is blocked even on teacher's laptops, but you CAN eventually go on it. So far, I don't know if you can access this on my school's internet (I'll...

It's like $120 for Public and like $800 for private. I do Continuers via Open High, apart from the workload, you have to be motivated.
