General maths has different content to mathematics- it focuses more on real life applications than algebra type stuff. So if you're considering a career in architecture mathematics would be more beneficial. You could always take mathematics then drop down to general if you are struggling.

Really in any subject you could be forced to do an oral (speech) assessment for it, and it forms part of your internal mark. And yes, in English, a speech is definite in year 12- unfortunately for you. :(

You can do anything you want to do- if you put your mind to it. If it's something you're really passionate about, then you'll want to put effort to get into medicine- regardless if you're the best of the crop or not.
