    How helpful is Peer Mentoring?

Peer mentoring or tutoring? For peer mentoring it really depends on the mentor you get. Mine weren't particularly helpful but i guess it's better than nothing. I would recommend you to sign up anyway and if you don't like it just don't attend. If you mean tutors then yes, they are highly...

    4 hour break between lectures

I had one last semester. If there is nothing to do, usually lunch, then go on a computer for a while (check email, read webct stuff or smh..etc.), then study/do hw. Time flies when you're in the library, and it's good since I can relax once I get home.

what do you do in between lectures?

Eat, if have friends then eat with friends, wander around uni if feel like it. Or mostly staying at library and do hw. i wish i know some people who can play cards (thirteen) :(...that's what I did in my last 4 yrs of high school life.

With your ATAR, Cr will be more than enough.

    Help.

Firstly, you can re-organise your preferences. You may reconsider choosing less demanding courses and try to transfer in the second year, but only choose courses you are interested in. I am not sure of your preferences and ATAR so I cant advice much there. Generally, offer made after the main...

    best investment ?

10 yr shareholder return for telstra is negative 2.3%, 5 yr postive 0.1%, 3yr -0.6% and 1 yr NEGATIVE 3.2%. Althought its PE ratio is pretty good at the moment, the future of telstra will be highly speculative...whether they can handle foreign competition...and its expansion potential..etc...

    timetabling n lectures n tutes

It's okay. This year there is a new system where there will be no tute in week 1, and no lecture in week 13. So all should work out.

    Exercise books?

I used 192 pages exercise book in the first semester. Sort of a misjudgement, end up using less than half of the book, and the cover got all torn up because of heavy textbooks in my bag. I recommend spirax, 120 pages seem alright, the good thing about it is that you can easily tear it out if...

    first day worst day

No, still doing it. Kinda settled in already so all's well, though I have no plan on becoming a lawyer.

    Formula sheets

Depend on the subject, generally you do.

What happens if i save all my centrelink payments?

You can keep up to $500000ish worth of assets (excluding home) as I recall, while it only allow you to have $200ish income/fortnight. An odd system imo. Also note that the $5000 cap "waiting period" only applies if you are newly applying for YA. So yeh...feel free to save, but remember to...

    first day worst day

Work was easy to adapt to, I still think HSC is harder. But I am still a bit behind in making friends. A common problem you might notice in the forum re uni social life is the "lots of acquaintance, not enough friends" syndrome, and that's sort of what I am experiencing. One thing I regret...

What was ur first day @ Uni like, Uni Students?

I posted a thread early last year titled "first day worst day" describing my first day at uni. If you care to you can search for it although the title should be enough to tell you where it is heading.

    pretty pumped for uni?

I remember I was pretty pumped before uni start too, but that was short-lived. After my second class I felt completely down and depressed. But I pray you wont be me.

    Hopelessness...

Agree with Aerath, SC is a very poor indicator of what you will get in the HSC. Like you, I only got band 5 for those 3 subjects (in fact, I got band 5 for every single subject in the SC), but I got a uai of 95+

    Any other way?

Tafe is an option, and as mel said you can apply for uni afterwards , but as far as I know application closed at the end of october, so you should check it out, and i suppose it wouldn't hurt to take a short break to rejuvenate yourself. Good luck!

Does the other degree in the double degree component matter?

It's not decisive on your career. The large number of different electives in law means that you can do either of those things you wanted to do, irrespective of what you combine law with. For example, you can pick law electives related to human rights, or law electives to do with commerce or...
