Project Evolution is a telecommunications project for all supermarkets, petrol sites, WLG stores (Dan Murphy's, BWS etc) and Big W. It involves upgrading WAN links to BDSL/3G and implementing a new VoIP phone system. I believe that supermarkets will be upgraded from Frame Relay/ISDN fallback...

From memory, in store radio is managed by a third party contractor - AirMedia. I would say that Elizabeth Ryley's team would be in the process of working with AirMedia and the greater Supermarket Ops team to compile a new playlist. I will try and get some details on what hardware they are...

Unless they are involved with the pilot, or spend a lot of time on StoreNet, they probably wouldn't be aware of SCO10 Masters are using these. I haven't heard of any plans to introduce them to Supermarkets.

We all knew it was coming sooner or later. What do you think Woolworths will go into next (either Supermarket division, or company as a whole)? My money was on in-store pharmacy in Big W, but apparently there is some regulatory issue. Maybe loans? Personal, Car, even Home one day???

Sorry if that's the way it came across. I guess that's part of the fun of using forums - you can't convey tone. You're probably right though, I don't spend enough time in stores anymore and I haven't worked a shift in SCO for a few years.

Yes - all stores will get this signage.

Tjeerd Jegen has just been announced as Greg Foran's replacement in the role of Director of Australian Supermarkets and Petrol. He is from outside the company and currently is CEO of Tesco Malaysia. "He will take up his position following release from his current contractual arrangements by...

I know it happens, but I was just trying to say that it shouldnt :-)

This definitely shouldn't be happening. The Duty Manager and/or Store Manager would get reamed if Loss Prevention saw that.

There should always be an attendanct in the SCO area. They should not leave under any circumstances.

+1 for ekul444's point of view. The PDA's didn't encourage interaction with customers. It is still very important for the customers to see the 'smiling face' for both loss prevention and customer satisfaction reasons.

As ekul444 said, the RPO terminals and PDAs were part of the NCRSCO setup. When we transitioned to WoWPOS SCO, we lost this functionality. One of the main reasons Woolworths moved away from NCRSCO software was the dependency on the RPO terminal. If the RPO terminal went offline, the SCOs...

Woolworths released it's official iPhone app today. It's very cool - you can sign in to your Everyday Rewards accounts and view fuel dockets (like you could do previously on the Everyday Rewards app), view exclusive EDR offers, use the camera to scan products or search for products and add them...

I doubt it... Woolworths will just be leasing the space to a McDonalds franchisee. So it will operate as an independent business. It's a better idea than the sausage and bun you get at Bunnings!

I'm not sure if CMS can monitor fire alarms that are controlled by the shopping centre management company though...

That is total shit! An emergency exit is there for a reason - you did the right thing. Nobody who is aware of their obligations under the OHS Act would tell you otherwise. Ignore the nightfill idiot. I am glad that I had gone home by that point :-)

Senior Management Changes: Greg Foran (Director - Food, Petrol and Liquor, Australia and New Zealand) will be leaving Woolworths within the next few months to pursue new career opportunities. His replacement has been headhunted and will be announced shortly. Steve Greentree (General Manager -...

Sorry, I meant to say - most SSMs will become Longlife Managers, while most existing Longlife (Grocery) Managers will become Inventory Managers.
