    Maths Trials!!

isn't it 20%? (technically) i.e. 50% internal and 50% external = whole hsc. btw. both of my trials are worth 40% and i have mine on monday and tuesday (like most other catholic schools).

i think my teacher have me that trial (or was it 2002) but i haven't had a chance to go through it....i'll c what i get if i do it on the weekend for preparation. was it actually the hardest paper or hardest q10 of all time?? i'm guessing u got 118/120 then? :)

    Sites like Buchannans

lol...i can't keep track of all the people on bos, but if i asked u this before i'll ask u again.....do u accelerate maths? i think i asked amoz_lilo last time

    Should I do science?

i don't know that the hsc is bigger than uni (IMO), since employment after uni is generally based on ur uni degree. although, employer's still look at your hsc results 10 years later, so the hsc is still v. important.

Is 14 units too much for the HSC?

btw. if u complete 2u maths this year and do ext 2 maths, u still have to do 4u of maths. if u do ext 2 maths, u basically throw away ur 2u mark (unless u revert back to ext 1). so unless u complete ext 1 maths this year, then u'll still have 14 units (13 if you subtract ext 1 english).

Is 14 units too much for the HSC?

extension 1 english might be a bit of a problem. q prerequisite of doing hsc ext 1 english is that u did it in yr11...u could, on the other hand, do both yr11 and yr12 at the same time, but this doesn't usually work out too well.

    failing your course.

since it MUST count, i guess u could say it has more of an effect on ur uai since it doesn't matter whether u get 0 or 100 - it will count. but if u make a serious attempt at it, u should be fine....as ragerunner said, it's difficult to fail a subject. even the lowest the guys in my year are on...

Failing 3 unit Maths: How to Improve?

what kind of uais do the duxes get? i guess the best indication is to see what marks last year's students got....that'd give u a better indication of how you're going. better still, post one or two examples of exams that u've done. the difficulty varies greatly between schools, so it's hard...

    Books/textbooks with lots of SHM/projectile q's

i think cambridge would be the best solution.

    Should I do science?

i guess u would have an idea of what u would want to do even before receiving subject selection forms etc. it's still a bit harsh to leave only a week though....maybe 2?

is there harder 2 unit in 3u hsc?

    what's harder? "harder 3u" or 4u topics?

    Schools

although u might be better off in a higher-ranked school if you're a good student, since the competition might help u along a bit...the difference would probably be minimal though.
  14. K

    failing your course.

if u have 12+ units and u fail one subject (i.e. 2 units) + it's the one u don't count, then your uai won't be affected unless that subject happens to be english.

    what TEXTBOOK do you use?!

    i.e. ext 2 paper?

    how many people overloads

hehe....that's not nice ;) i think the stereotype is that jrahs students are all nerd-headed brainiacs, but i was surprised to discover that they also have to complete an intensive phys.ed. program from yrs7-10. even my school doesn't do that! as for doing stacks of units....it's worthwhile...

Is 14 units too much for the HSC?

i think that's a cover-up for something we like to call "procrastination" ;)
  18. K

    Should I do science?

yea, that's what i mean. i don't know many people who finish an hsc course 2 years in advance. that means u would've finished preliminary ipt in yr 9? as for subject selection....that is pretty tough (esp. if ur indecisive about what subject/s to choose). i think we had about 6-8 weeks to...

a big hey to all year 11 2004

i signed some form for something, but i'm not sure what it was for (bad of me, but it had the board of studies insignia on it)...maybe that was what it was for. at the beginning of the year, we all had to take mug shots for our school photo id, so they'll probably use the same photo for the hsc...

    I need help

somehow i get the feeling that my school won't store past year 11 papers. hsc papers...maybe. it doesn't actually look like they even have anywhere to put them (i.e. no filing cabinets that i can see). our library isn't all that big...not many books to borrow either.
