i don't think u would use that expansion of cos2x (correct me if i'm wrong). coz otherwise u'd just get cos2x - sin²x. u'd probably have to use: cos2x = 2cos²x - 1. but remember skypryn, ur finding the integral of cos²2x, so u'll have to change the double angle...

just on the integration of cos³x. is it faster to expand cos3x or to use a substitution. i had the same question, and i did it both ways. IMO, the substitution was faster. any other opinions or objections?

i've only done up to perm & comb. haven't started binomial yet. can it actually be done with basic 3U probability knowledge i.e. without binomial theorem. i did (i) and (ii) just using the what i knew, but i got stuffed on (iii) - and i don't understand a lot of ur working out...lol

are all of your pens seriously going to "fail"?? :confused: u can bring in a whole box to be safe i guess. do the supervisors actually bring a whole box of spare pens and calculators in case a few peoples' run out etc?

assuming you get top in ur school, and top in the hsc exam (out of ur class) - that's what i actually meant, my mistake. then you aren't really affected by aligning. i.e. u get 1st in maths in ur school, then u get 100% in the hsc exam. then no matter what the average is or the relative...

lol.....i take about 6 pens into every exam. - i take my 2 lucky black pilot pens (superstition to a degree, but they are good pens - v. good for english essays) - one spare black ball point pen - a blue ball point pen - two red pens + pencils etc. this is only for maths though...

well, i have more peace of mind now, knowing that other people bring 2 calculators into the exam. no-one in my class does.....i probably will from now on. btw. has anyone here had their calculator stuff up on them in a major exam?? just for interest.

most of the 2U course, yes. 3U is a different story though. ive got physical apps in 2U. but for 3U, ive got physical apps + binomial + inverse functions....then i think we've finished. btw. what's that gotta do with calculators? - just curious.
