    Arrangement in a circle....

ok....ignore that one  but i still get an answer <1 for each time i sub n in. thanks cm...transcendental...that's the one :) can anyone veryify that my answer of 2n(n+1)[(n+1)!]2 + (n!)2 is correct/incorrect?

    HSC paper

IYO, would u say time is ur worst enemy in an ext 1 exam, or the difficulty of the paper?

    A New Template for Pracs?

ok cool. btw. in the hsc, do they examine you on concepts that you have learnt from pracs?

    A New Template for Pracs?

Our Chem. teacher gave us a handout outlining a "new, more powerful" template for practicals. Instead of the old, traditional: - Aim - Hypothesis - Method - Apparatus.......style it says that the "new" and better way to set out pracs is like this: - Purpose (basically aim) - Safety...

    HSC paper

i guess it depends on what kind of person u are. people who fidget and can't get into exam mode generally find 3 hrs a long time. and it seems like a long time especially when u don't know ur work and ur just waiting for the clock to tick by. i guess the same goes for the people who finish...

How do people find Inverse Functions??

oh ok.....ic now. sometimes i confuse myself though. i've been doing inverse functions for about a week and a half now. inverse trig for about a week....i still just have to get used to the domain and range of the inverse functions. btw. in some questions u have to solve for y e.g...

    maths

can i just ask a few questions mouse? 1. what year are you in and what level of maths are you doing? 2. which textbook are you getting these questions from? it might help us answer ur questions. the ones u just posted don't make much sense to me at all. anyone else got any ideas???

    Arrangement in a circle....

that's what i thought as well. when i subbed in other values for "n" i got irrational numbers - probably can't even be expressed as surds (what do you call those, btw? - teacher said the word but i've forgotten - i think) the answer i got was: 2n(n+1)[(n+1)!]2 + (n!)2...

    Sine Rule: Ambiguous Case

OK. Does that mean that as long as (180-x)o gives a "valid" angle (i.e. when added to the other angle, does not exceed 180o, and xo is also a solution of the triangle, then there are two possible triangles?

Getting marked down for additional information?

:) Not complaining at all. I accept that I got it wrong, and that's OK coz it was a year ago. It was never anything of concern. I was just flicking through my paper and I thought I'd ask.

Getting marked down for additional information?

My bad... I think I worded it in a bad way. untamedanimal's taking the words out of my head and typing them....unlike what i could do yesterday. But, yea. That is what I was asking.

How do people find Inverse Functions??

with questions like that, can you say "by inspection....." without giving any reasoning and still get full marks? just with finding the range.....can you determine the range of a function just by observing the domain of the same function? it's easy to do with other functions, such as...

Getting marked down for additional information?

If markers mark according to "steps" i..e give 1 mark for each step of the solution, can you get marked down for additional information that makes your answer wrong? edit: got rid of my example. ppl seem to get the impression that I was complaining - not what I intended. :)

    Sine Rule: Ambiguous Case

I left it till a bit late: But how do you find out if the ambiguous case arises? If you were to write down two solutions to a triangle, but there's actually only one, would you be marked down?

    Strange: Defined or Undefined

hhhmm.....interesting. just while i think of it: if you had x2-1/x+1, would that just be the line y=x-1 except with a discontinuity at x=-1?
  16. K

    Strange: Defined or Undefined

oh ic now.... so it'd just be the parabola x2 + 1 with a discontinuity at x=0?

    Strange: Defined or Undefined

Something came to my head as I was doing some inverse trig. function questions: Suppose: f(x) = x2(1 + 1/x2) then f(x) is undefined for x=0. But then expand f(x), then: f(x) = x2 + 1 which is defined for all real x. ??? Can someone please explain...
