Doing eco/legal without having done commerce in previous years?

I did Commerce in Year 9 and Year 10, honestly, it doesn't matter. There is no "assumed knowledge" in either courses, and the content is quite different from Commerce.

How long does it take you to and from school?

It takes me about an hour, door to door on the bus.

    How competitive is your cohort?

My school does both HSC and IB, the IB cohort is pretty competitive, but the HSC cohort isn't really that competitive. I'm guessing we will only have 1 or 2 ATARs above 90 in the HSC (hopefully i'll be one of them :))

Dropouts, class sizes, X classes and predictions :)

My old 2u maths class (which I dropped out of for General) started with 7 students, it now only has 2 students (it is now combined with a 3u class). I think a LOT of people will drop business studies, come Term 4.

    OTHER Students Affecting YOUR marks?

I've actually been pretty worried about this recently. I do Business Studies, there's about 12 in the class, less than half of which actually take the class seriously, the other half sit and talk or play games on their phones/laptops and don't listen. Same with General Maths and SOR. I...

Is it easy to get pub jobs in UK?

During my gap year i'm thinking of getting a job in a pub in the UK. I'd prefer a pre-arranged thing where a job is guaranteed, i've heard there's companies which offer this, does anyone know what are some of these companies' names and websites? I will have turned 18, but is working...

    Age Difference

Particularly in high school, one of the reasons girls go for guys older than them is status amongst their friends. I was talking to a girl in year 8 yesterday and she told me that having a boyfriend who was a senior (ie year 11 and 12) was like the ultimate status symbol in year 8.

    opposite gender best friends

Depends if they're hot or not :P I have a few friends that are girls and I have only really had any feelings for the hot ones.

Do you need references for fast food jobs?

Basically i've been applying to fast food places (KFC, McDonald's etc) and I don't really have any good references besides a couple of neighbours who I have done a few paid jobs for (ie feeding animals, collecting mail etc). On the application forms for these places there isn't a place for...

    The Pay Thread

How much does KFC pay for a 16 year old? Just applied there. I know it's a sh!t place to work, but it seems there are literally no jobs anywhere else in my area.

How to get from Parra. Station to UWS via bus.

Instead of purchasing a bus ticket from the newsagent, if you also catch the train (or another bus), you might want to look into buying a MyMulti weekly. Depending on where you are coming from, this ticket will cost between $21.50 and $30, and allows of unlimited use of buses, trains, trams and...

Which Uni Has The Hottest Girls???

Isn't UTS supposed to be full of "easy" girls?

my dream home in carlo. (help!)

Carlingford does have a railway station, with an hourly service to Clyde (where transfers are available to the Western Line). There's also the M54 bus running through Carlingford, which travels one way to Parramatta, and the other to Epping Station and Macquarie Uni/Centre. Runs pretty...

Where do you reckon is the best suburb to live in Sydney?

Glebe is a very good area. Lots of good restaurants, a short walk/bus trip to UTS, USYD, Newtown and the CBD. I would liken it to Surry Hills or maybe even Paddington, but without the ridiculous rents.

    The Woolworths Thread

With Woolworths, how do you apply? Their website says they only have one store in the whole of Sydney that is hiring for "store operations" (ie checkout, stacking shelves etc), which sounds pretty unlikely, given that they have hundreds of stores in Sydney. Is it like Coles where "store...

How does your school impact your hsc marks?

I go to a school where only around 30-40 people do the HSC, and most of them are the less "intellectually gifted" students (most of the grade does IB). There's only a few "smart" people doing the HSC (maybe 5-10 or so), the classes are small (mostly 5-15 students each) so does that mean my mark...

Advice on resumes and jobseeking for a first job?

I really need a job. I'm bored sh*tless in the school holidays and on weekends and I really need some extra money. Trouble is, i'm new to this. I'm 16 and in Year 11, I don't really have any good references aside from a couple of neighbours who I have done odd jobs for (for money) in the past...

    UWS??

I know a few people at UWS. Sure, it's not a "first choice" uni for most subjects, but that doesn't mean everybody who attends UWS is a drop kick. For example, to do law at UWS still requires 94.5 ATAR, which is a pretty respectable mark. Many students also choose UTS due to the fact that it can...

Guide to selecting your HSC Courses

With maths, pick the highest level that you think you may be capable of. If you find it too hard, you can always drop to a lower level of maths. It's much easier to drop down than to move up. Also, I echo what has been said about not picking subjects "just because your mates are doing them"...
