    Poetry.

hihi irene! first memory of celan - reading black fugues (Fugue of Death actually - all that black milk is swimming through my spongey brain) on your folder. mmm - someone thought you had written it. - Requiem by Anna Akhmatova kills me over and over again, but it's too long for me to...

Ideas that have been done to death...

They're looking for originality, but I'm pretty sure (fingers crossed etc) that the Ancient Greek and it's literature/mythology etc is a diverse enough 'muse' to cater for quite a few original students.

Can anyone confirm or disprove this??? Because if so...:(

    Agriculture

Agriculture is simply the best subject ever in terms of no work required. I did it accerlerated in yr 11 and I slept (or did other homework) in all my classes and my HSC result was a pretty good Band 6 mark. So relax about your wacko teacher. Self-teaching - just go through the syllabus and...

Has Anyone Questioned the Fact that..

So the argument is now about how much the physics syllabus SUCKS and has been WATERED DOWN, since we all agree that English as a subject is relevant? Because on that point, I totally agree. However, show me a subject syllabus which is NOT screwed. There are threads in this very forum which...

    Ruse

Students are not stolen. Students (or their parents) apply and send in their comp results and school results and then a certain number are selected to be added to the student body. It's not a private school looking for rugby players, mmk? :D

    Ruse

True, but that hardly differentiates Ruse from any other high school. It's a common enough malady these days.

Has Anyone Questioned the Fact that..

I'm not being anti-calculations. Personally I think maths and english are equally important and have their place in the education system. But if education is meant to equip you for life then yes, english would be a more important fundamental skill than maths/science. You can get through life...

    HSC results for Visual Arts

I'm curious, Daemontreu, did you come first in V.A? Or is there another, higher mark out there? :D

Has Anyone Questioned the Fact that..

I don't see why having a maths/science brain means you shouldn't be able/expected to communicate adequately. The physics and chemistry extended responses aren't seeking flourishes of brilliance and an awe-inspiring vocabulary - all you have to do is be able to structure an extended response to...

    Ruse

Which proves...what? - Ruse is all about competition and ambition. But if you enter the school having been one of the smartest kids in primary and end up mediocre whilst everyone tells you that 'wow you're in Ruse, that means you'd kick ass at any other school' - I think that results in a...

    Seeking Advice on Courses

Ok. Have definitely settled for temporarily trying out 15 units, thanks to everyone for their input. So far exam results this term have been pleasing, so I suppose I'm feeling rather positive. If I do choose to neglect music, it's unlikely I'll return to the lessons-practice-exam routine...

    Seeking Advice on Courses

Hmm. Thanks for the advice, guys. Yeah, I'm thinking of putting music on the backburner for next year - in fact my mother is insisting that I do so, and just practice for leisure. I can't actually drop Visual Arts, because I think it's stipulated that I have to undertake at least four...

I just borrowed War and Peace

I was given this book by my father when I was ten. :D Reading it in a non-linear fashion, interdispersed with other books a 'little' more suited to my age, I finished it in eight months. That said, it only took me two days to read Anna Karenina, which I was given at the same time, so I would...

    Seeking Advice on Courses

Eeeee! (ha, even the thought of killing 4U maths pains me. :D) I am stronger in the humanities, placing much better. But at the same time, my _marks_ for maths are the highest, being centered around 96-97 in 2U (don't do that anymore) and 48-49 in 3U. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. :)

*ducks head* Ah, I was feeling lazy, so I didn't actually attend the Information day. The BOS have to pay for my place in the Distinction Course? Hmm, that's interesting.

    Seeking Advice on Courses

Hi. I'm currently in Yr 11 (Yr 12 2004) James Ruse. (I think most of you know enough about my school to understand it's UAI record etc.) I'm aiming for an UAI of 99.8+ to get into Combined Law at USyd with clearance, in case the UAI cut-off rises, or something else equally terrible occurs...

    Prelim Course Rankings

Oh. We have an engineering class in the yr 12 '03's - they were the first and last year to be offered the subject. Your school's smaller and yet you have a wider variety of classes to choose from...hmmm. :( (not that sad - i wouldn't have done eng.s anyway. ;))

What's the best thing to eat for breakfast on an exam day??

I usually have eggs on toast with milk. Seems to work well enough - I haven't collapsed in an exam yet. :)

Nice rankings. :) Mine could never compete. But um...there aren't many people in your subjects are there?
