    HELP! Economics question?

First instinct was to talk about opportunity cost.

    Management Consulting

I'd say the bigger challenge for most young players is you're essentially trying to tell someone how to do something better than they already do when you yourself have minimal experience or knowledge. It's a hard sell. Like many professional services, it's as much about salesmanship and...

    law/business and commerce UWS

Op, you need to differentiate between earning potential or likely income and over what period. There's a lot more to it than just asking which pays the best because some fields pay amazingly well even at graduate level but the quantity of roles available may make things that much more...

USYD vs UNSW Business School for Cadets

Wait a sec I'm confused. Are you planning this with an accounting Cadetship in mind or the business Cadetship? Neither of the ones you mentioned are any more suitable than any other commerce or business degree majoring in finance when it comes to banking but you need to be specific as finance...

    Remember the T-Card?

I remember it was such a waste of effort having to show my bus pass as well as tap on with the T-card. When the T-card readers didn't work the bus driver asked us to show both cards. I think I was in either Year 11 or 12 so would've been 04/05?

Am I alone in hating airplane food?

Recently flew on Air New Zealand quite a lot (was flying to/from Sydney every 2nd or 3rd week) and used the opportunity to try out their in-flight buying service. Similar to Scoot but with the credit card terminal built into the remote (with an option of 'starting a tab'), I tried most things on...

    Apple Watch / iPhone 6

Decided to buy my girlfriend a gold iPhone 6 but realised even logging in exactly as clock ticks over to midnight, the reservation stock are already gone for all the stores within walking or short drive from the CBD. :(

    State Ranking mark ?

It varies each year obviously but in my case I got 98/98 according to the Board of Studies HSC results (note there are no decimal places on the results). From memory my internal mark was a bit lower. If I recall correctly, the guy who came 2nd in my year also had 98 on his HSC results yet I was 4th.

    Management Consulting

I disagree (for obvious reasons). Audit, or more broadly speaking, assurance, definitely has a role in the modern business world and offers unique insights into businesses which would otherwise be nearly impossible to obtain. The experience on individuals in the practice can vary wildly with...

USYD vs UNSW Business School for Cadets

Traditionally most cadets do UNSW, UTS or Macquarie because of the flexibility in timetables. I've heard USYD is a lot better now and with some firms giving you a whole day off per week, it is manageable. Best bet would be to speak to cadets in the firm you are applying for or successful with...

    Direction in life ??!

The other thing I'd also add to this based on experience and lots of people who have tried similar things- a hobby/passion and a career are two different things. There are some people who successfully turn one into the other (or vice versa!) but there are many more who try to do this and end up...

    Direction in life ??!

I think we've veered way off topic here- for what it's worth to the Op, we are the generation where working hard and mindlessly following the path others followed before us isn't what leads to personal satisfaction. You aren't the only one in this boat, there are plenty of others who feel rather...

is work experience necessary for scholarships?

I wouldn't say one is preferred over the other. It really just depends what you've learnt from it, what it says about you as an individual (not just philanthropic), etc. To answer the Op's question though, no it's not necessary or mandatory but when looking at a candidate/application, the...

    Actuarial Studies/Finance/Accounting/Marketing/Management

Hi Just to clarify, you're a high school graduate right (as opposed to a university graduate)? Are you in year 12 still or already in first year uni? Your post is a tad ambiguous! Either way, you've picked quite a few different fields within Commerce which all sit at different points in the...

    'Exciting' cars for under $20k

Get a Civic perhaps? That's alot more fun than a Corolla/Lancer. Mazda3 is also not a bad choice. Neither are going to blow your mind with excitement but they do make the commute a bit more enjoyable.
