Sounds like option 1 is the way to go. Good money, proper training program, says alot about you as a person that you stuck it out, etc... good experience overall, and $19 (or $24) an hour is great money. Took me a long time before I was earning that much coin.

Macquarie has historically had a stronger reputation in this space so with a scholarship on top, it's a no brainer for me.

To Op, I'd say it depends which firm the cadetship is with, and whether it's a firm you want to build a career with. As I mentioned in the other post, a co-op is a great way to try different organisations where accounting is given a different focus so you can compare them against each other, but...

For the level at which you're applying for Op (i.e. it's unlikely to be a lateral hire/professional role), the references are likely to be less sensitive of an issue (i.e. you're not trying to jump ship from your current job) and are more expected to be character references than anything else...
