    Cadetships 2014

That's unfortunate that you aren't able to find opportunities or balance out your priorities during a busy/stressful period. EDIT: Just also note that the application closing dates shouldn't be what stops you from doing things. It's not like these things automatically disappear or you lose the...

    Career prospects Law/Commerce degree?

Come to think of it, less than 1 in 10 of my law friends ended up working in a law firm. Most ended up in finance or accounting.

    Cadetships 2014

I love it when people make stuff up. It's even better when they contradict key facts from the last guy's story. In all seriousness, why not use the time you have to do something worthwhile? Volunteer at a local nursing home, participate in a door knock appeal, ask your teachers if there's a...

    Cadetships 2014

What is the 4 based on? I've never heard it before as a set number for any of the above three. Yes. But you can be strategic in which category or section of your application you talk about it depending on what you actually did. Agreed. As long as she's interested in the field, it's a...

    Career prospects Law/Commerce degree?

Remember that law isn't so much about what you learned but what it says about you (e.g. learning ability, high achiever, etc) which can make you a hot candidate for many other roles (e.g. IB).

    BAcc 2015 Intake

Fair enough. This is one of the few advertising(ish) things which is fair game to post on here given it's relevance to the audience, and the amount of discussion it generates.

    Cadetships 2014

I'll cut to the chase- if your heart and mind isn't set on this, don't waste your time on this. You need to genuinely want to pursue a career in business otherwise you'll end up hating uni and work (I've seen it before) and worse yet, you may ruin your professional reputation and future job...

    Cadetships 2014

    1. Do you even have an interest in accounting or business? If not, you won't get very far and I doubt you'll be willing to put in the effort to do well. The reality is that many cadets have to work unpaid overtime to get things done but they do so because they value the experience and...

    Cadetships 2014

I'd say a high Credit or a Distinction would be good, but it's no guarantee it'll get you another job. Read the ICAA website and attend the events. I think the key thing to remember is the money isn't that great especially not whilst you're a cadet. Yes $35-$40k sounds like a lot but...

    Cadetships 2014

Most firms don't enforce a minimum other than expecting you to pass. Given you're doing half load/part time load rather than full time study load, it's not difficult to manage and many cadets voluntarily overload.

UTS business vs UNSW commerce for Investment banking

Agreed, for front office, you'll be hard pressed with straight commerce although I do know some people who got in to IB roles with it. They also had top marks and amazing ECs.

I finally drove an SUV... ask me a question.

The X6M has a horrible turning circle. Had to do a three pointer at a U-turn bay on Orchard Rd!

Is a double major in accounting and marketing possible/ useful?

There are a few people who are passionate about it at uni. I wasn't one of them.

    Cadetships 2014

I can only think of people who did a coop scholarship who did actuarial. I do remember back in the day business cadetships were pretty relaxed in terms of what you studied (i.e. not as prescriptive as an accounting cadetship). On another note, some firms may be willing to let you do...

    BAcc 2015 Intake

It's almost as if UTS asks it's BAcc cohort to advertise on here every year lol.

I finally drove an SUV... ask me a question.

Station wagon feels just like a normal car but longer. That being said, I don't even remember which station wagon I drove. The SUV I drove was also a bit more sports-oriented than the typical SUV given it had electronic dampers/stiffer suspension :) I'll put it this way, it was surprisingly...

    sports utility vehicle and no.

AWD vs. 4WD vs. FWD vs. RWD

Was in a Rangie last week and we wanted to overtake traffic leading up to a bridge... so we drove off the road, went to the front after the jam, and jumped back on the road.

At least the name is funky :) Isn't that the one with drum brakes?
