Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

I think it's also worth mentioning most people get into their chosen graduate job through being a normal Uni student and doing a summer placement or internship. That is, the coops and trainees/cadets definitely form a minority in the respective workforces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

To be honest the scholarship concept to me has always been money just to keep you incentivised to do well for both yourself and the Uni. Coop is the only one which isn't so heavily focused on academics and actually force you to work for 1.5 years or so in total in roles which don't offer you any...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

It is a bit cruel that we are having this discussion now given that all the commerce ones closed a week ago lol. Either way though this is in line with my expectations.

NSW rego stickers to be scrapped.

Damn just got my new sticker for the year in the mail along with a $558 bill (and $746 for ctp green slip). Can't wait for the removal of these stickers but I doubt the price will fall.

    What have you eaten today?

I highly recommend Petaling St for reasonably priced Malaysian cuisine. Cheaper and better than Mamak. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

How much effort did you put into your application? And did you even try again for any other programs or at subsequent points in time? If you didn't even get an interview I'd say your application was probably rubbish and maybe you might've fared better if you had presented yourself differently...

NSW rego stickers to be scrapped.

I thought it was a great idea and long overdue. Now all we need is a way to remove number plates because they ruin the aerodynamics and aesthetics of cars!

NSW rego stickers to be scrapped.

I use window cleaner spray. The trick is when you apply it initially to apply it firmly but leave one corner slightly off and let it fall lightly to touch (so it doesn't stick so hard). Makes it far easier to remove. Also helps to have a clean windscreen BEFORE you apply it in the first place...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

Many reasons why people would want to give up a scholarship particularly in the Commerce fields. After all, this is Gen Y and you can only hold onto someone's interest until they find something else they'd rather do whether it be to go to an international university, go on exchange, join a...

    What have you eaten today?

Oh, I also drank a Pure Blond beforehand, and ate a KFC popcorn chicken snack box (which I shared with someone) as we were drinking on an empty stomach. And for lunch I had chicken and sweet corn soup from the cafe downstairs at work. Not worth photographing.

    What have you eaten today?

Tonight I went to Petaling St in the city with my best friend from high school and his gf (yes I lightbulbed). Had some delicious foods: Kick-ass Malaysian food and it all came to $42 or so for the three of us. Then we went for fried ice cream and fruit which wasn't so...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

What are you on about? As far back as I can remember, the coop program always has people who drop out, and sometimes the sponsors put up additional places. These are typically advertised either on the coop website or before lectures (literally before the lecture session commences). I remember...

Commerce Accounting/Finance Majors>>>>> 2 unit Maths vs General Maths

Keep 2u. Even in first year for the core subjects for Commerce you'll need to have a decent understanding because a lot of the notation and concepts (particularly around sequence and series) will be mind boggling particularly if you haven't been exposed to them before. Whilst 2u isn't a...

    ACCT1501 - Perdisco

That's true (that different firms can have accounting policy choices to recognise revenue at different points in time) but given the information above, I can't think of any potential interpretation of 118 which would facilitate the recognition of revenue for the sale of goods at the creation of...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

I think you put too much of a focus on marks. You may be able to use that to get into the most elite of finance jobs which require it, but for the majority of Commerce jobs, the reality is that academics don't mean much because you don't need to be brilliant at memorising books/syllabus/lecture...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

Biased? Because they picked people who they thought would be more suitable for their scholarship/cadetships? A scholarship/cadetship isn't so much a prize to be won but rather it is an opportunity afforded to those who are believed to be able to make the most out of it. It isn't free money in...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

It doesn't have to be volunteer work for it to count as EC. I went to a government school and I started up a student uniform committee, a scrabble club and was even one of the original members of the chess club. I did these because I cared and wanted to do something about them. It has absolutely...

Various Commerce Degrees - Pros/Cons, Student Experiences

Mate, play the hand you're dealt. Just like tambam mentioned, I too know plenty of people who got scholarships and cadetships who had plenty of ECs and weren't from private schools. You don't need to go to a private school to volunteer to help at a nursing home, to do the Red Shield door knock...
