$$ - aka What is your Traineeship Remuneration?

*shrugs* Some firms just give you an extra $$$ in your pay packet before uni begins and it's at your discretion how you choose to use it.

    Vacationer Programs and Penultimate

When I said harming reputation, I was referring to people who lied/intentionally covered up. Anyway ultimately the conclusion drawn from this discussion is- say it upfront. If you get invited to an interview, go for it. But don't bluff in your cover letter saying you will finish your degree...

    Vacationer Programs and Penultimate

Are you sure those aforementioned people said it RIGHT upfront on their application? If you said it in your interview then that's a different story. There are people who are exceptions to the norm/criteria and what you said is true that we want good people, but ultimately, the program is aimed...

$$ - aka What is your Traineeship Remuneration?

ROFLMAO I didn't realise it was for textbooks/fees... I thought it was like a 'reward' kindof thing! And if you have to provide receipts.... ... you can't make a profit unless you buy new books, sell them, and buy 2nd hand.

V-Dub Unpimp my Ride adds (VW)

For those who haven't seen the V-Dub "unpimp my ride" adds which were on the net ages ago... they're quite good and still make me laugh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuoNtFUdnn4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxg7TjPkY44 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgL--N_-F-g Comments? I don't like...

$$ - aka What is your Traineeship Remuneration?

Wow you get $1k for every subject you pass?? Is this in addition to the standard pay rises you get? Or is this just a contractual promise to increase your pay from $30k to graduate salary over the time of your contract?

    Co-op vs Cadetship

I think CA requirements were shortened considerably to make it easier for more people to apply... and the requirement is there so that you can't start working at a firm and commence CA immediately- you need to fulfill work experience requirements before you can start your studies.

    Cadetships 2008/09

Re: Cadetships 2007 Congrats to those who got offers! For those who still have interviews and Conquest to go.. good luck! =]

    Vacationer Programs and Penultimate

Was that guy a CA Achiever? And did he tell them that he wouldn't finish in one years time? I know of people who apply under the "I'm planning to finish my Commerce degree in 1 year" guise but unless there's potential for you to start graduate employment in the intake within the year after...

    CA vs CPA [Accounting]

That's what it used to be called before people started calling it the "CA Program". In some older articles, or some people who did the program quite a while back, they refer to it as "PY".

$$ - aka What is your Traineeship Remuneration?

No :) It all depends on the firm, other firms, etc.. ... but also bear in mind, some firms include the textbook allowance as part of the "total remuneration" whilst others just give one-off payments at the beginning of each uni semester in addition to the normal monthly salary.

    Economic Driving

For me... a) Don't rev the engine hard upon start up and don't turn a/c on when engine still cold b) Under normal suburban driving, lightly throttle and keep engine between 1000 and 2500rpm c) Always try to keep the pedal at a consistent angle rather than constantly pushing down...

    Co-op vs Cadetship

That is my understanding- with the exception of applying for the same field but in a different firm (e.g. audit in another Big4 whereby the ex-cadet will join as as a senior accountant and lead the audit team), a cadet is in the same boat as a coop when it comes to applying for a graduate role...

$$ - aka What is your Traineeship Remuneration?

If it's any consolation, on day 1 of my cadetship our salaries were all updated to match the leading remuneration package offered by the most competitive Big4. Same applied to grads as well as undergrads.

    Co-op vs Cadetship

Remember to take into account which division the people work in when you listen to their experiences! Some divisions (particularly FS) are known to work much longer hours than other divisions and thus have a very different work culture.
