    Cadetships 2008/09

Re: Cadetships 2007 Agreed. Well spoken. Each firm will appeal on a different level whether it be the emphasis on teamwork, social events, the way people from different groups interact, the effort spent on certain aspects of staff's lives, charity, etc... but ultimately you need to see...

    Cadetships 2008/09

Re: Cadetships 2007 You don't have to choose until quite a bit of time after you commence employment. It's also subject to your group's needs- not so sure about tax since I don't realy know many ppl there, but I know for audit, it can be quite accomodating. I know some people who have...

2nd year accounting student wanting job

Reality is most people don't do cadetships. The only time people will really be ahead with a cadetship is that instead of coming back as a normal grad with 0 experience (vaccy/internship doesn't count here), they return either as a senior (leads the team) or a grad about to be promoted but...

2nd year accounting student wanting job

There's also CA Achiever. Not sure what the exact requirements for that are, but if you're not eligible for vaccy work (in case you're not penultimate) then that's another avenue. This is organised through the Institute so check their website rather than the individual firms.

    Cadetships 2008/09

Re: Cadetships 2007 lol glad u enjoyed it. because i'm too lazy to read the entire thread on my slow internet, are u assurance or tax&legal? surprisingly very very few ppl in my intake did sandwich- 2+2 is alot easier to manage and then you also get option to work part time later on and get...

Why is my salary so low

Agreed mate. If you aren't enjoying what you're doing, then no point sticking around. On the other hand, some people really do enjoy audit (such as myself).

    PwC partner salary

You're the closest so far I'd say. Just remember that each firm has many many entities below it whether it be for AFSL, liability, or other reasons. Not every entity will be strictly a partnership as well. It's not my position to really talk about it but if you actually work in a Big4 firm, have...

    group interview?

Good luck =] But seriously though, you're in year12, how much accounting knowledge do you have? Or more importantly, how much of it is relevant to what you think goes on in a professional services firm? *shrugs* ps. Those aren't questions in the interview- just things you might want to ponder.

Why is my salary so low

"Assistant Premium Analyst"? Nice title. Wait until you start then tell us what you end up doing. I would very much LMAO if you ended up having to deal with auditors.

    How to become a Partner

Typically they are branded "principal" to differentiate between the two rather than using the terms equity/junior partners but this of course varies between different firms. For some of the Big4 (hint hint: your firm Vagabond for sure), all partners are equity partners.

Why is my salary so low

Should've increased by now (as in- for a first year Associate). And then your mates who were on 45K before should be quite a bit higher than that now as they are Experienced Associates.

    Co-op vs Cadetship

    1. How do you even know what Accounting in professional services firms really involve? 2. That being said, if you genuinely can't stand the fundamentals of accounting, even though we don't use them that often, you might not really enjoy the work we do. Whilst alot time is spent trying to...

    Those Magnetic Number Plates

Just thoguht I'd update this thread... magnetic Ps are like out of stock everywhere but some shops still sell the interior ones. Anyway, today I bought the P plate holder which sticks onto your license plate from Autojoy for $15 (set of 2). Not sure how good they are but it's the only option I...

    How to become a Partner

I think more importantly you guys have to consider not the steps but the actual criteria. Unlike the promotion steps from within the various degrees of Accountant/Associate and Senior/Executive, etc... but the jumps at higher levels are not automatic promotions/criteria fulfilment. Probably...

LOL wow trainee salary doesn't seem so bad^^

    PwC partner salary

Not everyone wants to be a banker. Considering the perks of being a partner, and the special benefits which extend even beyond the p/a T.R., and the pressure relative to IB, I don't think it's such a bad thing.

    Those Magnetic Number Plates

I refuse to resort to using stickytape to hold it on like I had to with my cheapo paper L plates.

    Cadetships - Interview Questions?

Good work Vagabond. I agree with what you said- as bukwow mentioned also, q1 is what will get you an interview (but remember, things you say now can be asked again at later stages!), whilst 2 and 3 are the ones they're more likely to focus on. ROFLMAO see you on Monday mate. It's my birthday so...
