    Accounting vs Investment Banking

Am I the only one here who notices that despite csmg's big speech, he still hasn't revealed what it is that he's accomplished "succesfully" in his "been there done that" life... but rather, all he has done is put down what others feel are their own personal accomplishments? For someone who's...

    Accounting vs Investment Banking

Re: Accounting Cadetships But how can you be sure that everyone will get a share of the bonus, or if there even will be a bonus every year? I know with some firms/companies, there isn't always a bonus, and the amount of the bonus varies between years and even between levels of staff.

    Accounting vs Investment Banking

Re: Accounting Cadetships Why this is all stemming from a cadetship thread is beyond me... my only thought is it's in response to the person asking if a cadetship will limit their future career prospects, and everyone jumping to the conclusion that IB is the way to go. Somehow I have my...

    Degree abbreviations

Nah it was a chick called Sandra from Trivett BMW, Parramatta. Whilst Wiki isn't the be-all/end-all to arguments, it does shed some light on the topic. I personally don't care, but I've always used "BComm" anyway. Looks more "correct" than "BCom".

    Accounting vs Investment Banking

Re: Accounting Cadetships Sorry for triple posting- I'd edit my posts but BoS is running really slow for me. I'm guessing it's approaching that time of year again where all the HSC kiddies steal all the bandwidth! Also, I think that's rather elitist of you to say that. What's wrong with non...

    Accounting vs Investment Banking

Re: Accounting Cadetships Which IB companies are you talking about? First year grads earn $45k in my firm. Does that mean ALL IB grads should be expecting $112k? ... and this doesn't even take into account the difference in working hours between the two.

    Accounting Cadetships

Let's just say it reflects very poorly on you. Whilst quite a few people who accept cadetships end up deflecting before commencement, if you drop it just to join another firm for whatever reason, then it's kindof like saying your signature and promise of commitment to something mean nothing...

    Cadetships!

Sorry I'm not quite sure about that but IIRC there are two choices- audit/assurance and business services. Not sure if tax is offered. Either way, I recommend you check out their website for more info- http://www.mspmn.com.au/ LOL nice email address you got there mate. It's very original! Did...

    Degree abbreviations

I've always used B Comm to describe Commerce and thought B Com was for communications. I saw B Com on the business card of a BMW salesperson so I figure it's more likely to be communications. *shrugs* Anyone know for sure?

    Accounting Cadetships

Thanks for letting me answer this one :) Look at it this way, cadetships are advertised as being a great way for people to experience work in the field they are studying at uni, and furthermore, one of the requirements is that you intend to major in Accounting at university, with some firms...

good article on international professional qualifications

Alot of people struggle to juggle work and CA... I think once I'm passed that, I don't think I'll go for so many qualifications. Sure the job prospects are improved, but how many years have you wasted by not just sticking to something you're actually good at?

    Vacation Work

Join date October 2006 with Post Count 1. Don't tell me you only signed up to BoS just to ask me that! As I said in the PM, I don't think I should discuss such factors. Alot of the questions you ask, whilst good questions, if you think about them enough the answers should come.

    selective school

I got bored of reading this thread but really, look at it from the selective school's point of view. Why would they want you? (that's for anyone else who happens to read this topic seriously) Back on topic, congrats on making it to Ruse. Bet noone else at the start of this thread could see...

Never noticed that before in the Lexus... have to admit it's looking alot better than past examples, and the Germans aren't looking so hot, but I'd still rather be in the BMW.

    Vacation Work

I think that there are a lot of good candidates, but not everyone has the right personality to fit in. I haven't worked that long in accounting, but I can see certain characteristics which are more evident in certain firms over others. I liken it to the Hogwarts Sorting Hat!

good article on international professional qualifications

Interesting read :) That article sounds like he's constantly trying to find something which suits him, but doesn't seem to find a good fit yet.

    Accounting Cadetships

Btw mr_shittles, I think this "debate" of coop vs. cadetship is getting a bit out of hand and a tad immature so I'm dropping it- it's also not any help to people actually asking about cadetships.

Cadetship Takers: Uni Course - UTS vs UNSW

True that. For me, I didn't really enjoy full time uni life much. It wasn't that exciting. The clubs I joined were okay but ultimately, alot of the time I felt rather unproductive. It all comes down to the individual.
