quik, what is a better buy out of a GHR, 45 degree hyper extension and a regular hyperextension?

I struggle to tell the difference between a glute ham raise and a hyper extension sometimes...

I would go the GHR, it is next on my to buy list

GHR are amazing for hamstrings, omg

The difference is basically the pivot point, GHR you pivot at the knee and hyperextensions at the hip/pelvis and mainly works lower back

Cool, I'm getting one down the line.

would you recommend a 45 degree hyper or a regular one as well? (I'm leaning towards the regular so I can do reverse hypers).

Yeah I would probably go the flat (90 deg) for the same reasons

If you haven't used both may as well just to make sure there isn't some crippling comfort issue due to posture on one or the other, but apart from that the equipment that gives me more options would be my choice every time

I'll test them both out one day.

I plan to get a muscle motion commercial quality rack, commercial flat bench and a heavy duty bar with thrust bearings sometime next year. I'm broke and my squat rack still has some growing space so I'm in no hurry.

After that if I have permanent employment I'll get a GHR and a hyper, adjustable dumbbells, some bands and chains and an adjustable box squat. Thats probably gonna be when I move out though (space issues).

Edit: I have done like 15 sets of overhead presses and numerous of other things, tomorrow will be interesting

I don't like owning a heap of things, the amount of useless shit in most gyms is incredible.

Just a rack/bench set up, a GHR and hyper for assistance work and dumbbells, chains and bands for lift variation.

You ever used a westside template quik?

The only program I have ever used was one from animalpak.com when I started

Even then I basically just used the rep scheme

Should probably give a program a try sometime

I went from low 70s to 97kg

Squat was 170? I think

Deadlift 180

Bench I never went too hard cos no safety bars or spotters

In a period of about 6-8months

I largely think lifting hard > thinking hard about lifting

pretty much the exact same.

I stick to rippetoe, some of the russian stuff and listen to a couple of powerlifting vets on bb.com. Bodybuilding voodoo pisses me off something shocking.

sames. when exams come everything gets dropped, its really frustrating but there's nothing else I can do. I envy people with good time management.

check out texas method, its fairly awesome for intermediates.

stop making me agree with you :p

I hate it when my mates ask to train with me. I'd have to start them on a beginners program and teach them to lift for ages, as well as being asked why we're not doing dumbbell curls etc. Plus, you'd never be able to time between sets properly.

I like that weightlifting is something I do for myself, by myself.

Have only had one workout with someone who was on the same level mindset as me, he wasn't as strong but that didn't matter it was great

Hmm, this is something I plan to do long term. Reality is there's never going to be someone there with me at 5am in my garage on a tuesday morning. I may as well get used to it.

I like the space - its just me and my ipod.

But I'm bailing now. night :D
