how to get a job after graduating?

Usually people go through internships in their penultimate year and get offered a grad job that way since that's where I'd say the majority are... but for those who didn't go down that path, then grad applications are usually done online and you can apply at respective company and firm websites...

    What's your dream car?

^ LOL. There's always at least one at every car meet.

    Chinese parenting compared to Western

I remember reading this article a week or so ago... it really does resonate with a lot of Chinese families (including my own) but that being said, like all things in life, there are some who take it more extreme than others.

I've narrowed it down to four majors... I just need to pick two. Help?

I'd pick finance because I don't like maths that much (and finance is qualitative as well as quantitative), and financial economics sounds rather waffly and likely to be very heavy on stats (which I hated). I could be wrong though. One thing to remember is economics in uni is 100x harder than...

    How to become a stockbroker?

Watch the movie "Wall Street" (the first one from 1987). I think it captures what brokers (and traders) do when it comes to the split between prop trading & client trading, and some of the issues they face.

    Car to Buy Advice

Whilst I don't usually think cars are girly even when a lot of people sometimes do (e.g. Mini Cooper and MX5 aren't totally girly), the Mazda3 is a very VERY neutral car.

best time to buy a volkswagon?

Well if you go for a 2010 plate, you should be able to get decent deals over the next few months as they struggle to get rid of an "old" car (because the resale value will be down compared to a 2011 plate). That being said, seeing that it just won Wheels Car of the Year, it's unlikely you can...

    Car to Buy Advice

I agree I loved the Fortune kit in Tokyo Drift. Looked hot. But the pain of managing and running a rotary isn't worth it unless you are patient/tolerant and have the bucks to cover it.

on the plus side at least it's not too expensive in the used car market.

Bachelor of Commerce at UNSW or Usyd?

I agree with the above. It's your extra curricular activities, your involvement in life, work experience, etc... which will make all the difference. Furthermore once you've landed yourself an interview, everyone is on an even footing anyway.

    Car to Buy Advice

Whilst I'm a fan of the RX-8's look/design, performance isn't that great and can't believe that it drinks petrol faster than my Evo does! Scirocco is expensive here as it's only available as a parallel import for circa $70-80k from memory (it was in the Motor magazine Hot Tuner challenge 2010).

    Do you trade shares?

^ Depends if you are buying for short term speculation or if you genuinely are doing your research and buying long. I don't really research or follow any particular data but I rely on my fundamental gut instincts and technical analysis to trade quickly and that's it. Truth be told unless you're...

Evo X used to be my dream car. Now I'm gunning for a LP640.

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Bell is cheapest but I hate their interface. Feels so difficult to trade and you have to pay a subscription fee to access "live" prices. C'mon what the heck? Commsec offers T+3 settlement which was a great way to make money without any outlay... only thing...

    Car to Buy Advice

Whilst I personally would rate the Evo (or the STI for that matter), judging by the OP's lack of manual experience and what appears to be a preference for a new car rather than a used Japanese performance car, I think the OP would probably be better off looking at some of the other cars listed...

    Car to Buy Advice

A lot of the choice comes down to what the OP wants in a car... performance, driveability, comfort, sports, brand, image, convenience, etc... On another note, I'm actually not a huge fan of a GTI. Yes it's a good car but it doesn't really feel that special. Surprisingly even with TCS on, I got...

    Car to Buy Advice

How good is your driving/what licence are you? My boss at work has an XR5 Turbo (in addition to his targa STIs) and he rates it quite highly. That being said, if it's your first manual car, I don't think getting a high power FWD car is the best bet. What kind of budget do you have and how...

How to succeed in a grad job!

Interesting read on there. Some of the tips there sound very much out of those "how to improve yourself" seminars/books, it's still a good resource for BoSers. ps. Which Big4 firm did you move to? Is your site blocked at your firm because I can't access it at work :P

bachelor of commerce vs bachelor of commerce/bachelor of economics

Not that many places would be willing to give you an internship if you aren't due to graduate within the next year... unless you lie on your applications or in your interviews.
