bachelor of commerce vs bachelor of commerce/bachelor of economics

Not that many places would be willing to give you an internship if you aren't due to graduate within the next year... unless you lie on your applications or in your interviews.

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Btw which brokers do you guys use? I'm with Bell now, but was with Commsec previously.

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Realistically unless you have at least $5k (and are willing to risk it), I'd stay away from this until you've had a decent chance to play around with things like the Stock Market games run by ASX for high school students. That being said if you really want...

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? For what it's worth, in most social settings, people who talk shares probably know not much more than you but thanks to a string of good luck, they have an overinflated sense of expertise. That being said, my Mum is by no means in anyway technical yet...

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Btw I moved some of the posts from the other thread http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=253915 as it was getting a bit off-topic and the topic title didn't really capture where the discussion was clearly headed.

    Do you trade shares?

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Agreed with the approach of sticking to what you find works. IMO the problem with uni is it teaches you a lot of theories which cloud your opinion a lot... for example, a share price could represent net tangible assets + premium, or it could represent...

My second degree: Arts or Commerce?

I would say Commerce works well as there are a lot more career opportunities which open up (provided you have even a remote interest in business). However if you would prefer a broader study area which lets you explore/contemplate other topics which may not be so career oriented (not counting...

    full license driver qulification test?

Basically it's got two parts- theory multiple choice and a touch-the-screen-to-stop kindof thing similar to what you had for Green P's. My biggest tip is to read that handbook.

    Reminder: Tax File Number

Agreed. This is a vital consideration which a lot of people forget and also why I recommend people get it through their schools when they are in year 10/11/12... which is infinitely easier than trying to do it without the school to help (i.e. finding a JP).

UTS or UNSW for cadetship ?

^ That being said, I did FT work/FT uni in my final 2 years of my cadetship and it was manageable thanks to very flexible work arrangements with my firm. It won't happen for everyone nor will it be easy, but it is achievable.

    USyd's turn now?

What's with kids and hax0ring these days... good thing they don't apply this logic in real life- just because they can vandalise something doesn't mean they have an invitation to do so. For those who are wondering what this thread is about, here's a screenshot as at (approx) 1am on 15/1/2011...

bachelor of commerce vs bachelor of commerce/bachelor of economics

BEco really will only help if you want to work in economics fields (i.e. "real" economics roles such as an economist). IMO you're better off spending that time working on extra curricular or work experience to improve your prospects of a grad position (or internship).

Re: higher return than stockmarket? Fundamentals. Even on my spec trading activities it's still largely driven by fundamentals and my perception of 'it's a bargain'.

    Top Gear USA

Anyone here follow it? I actually quite enjoy it. The challenges are a bit old-school (cough repeats) but they're still interesting to watch and I enjoy the US-spin on things. The Evo X in the snow was wicked.

    How to become a stockbroker?

As in, unless you are in the top calibre of finance students and land yourself in one of the few front office roles (whether that's prop trading or IB or M&A) which require you to use your intellect to actually make money for the organisation, you'll likely be collating data, reporting on...

Should we accept our offers immediately?

If you're really dedicated you can figure out what subjects you wanna do (or are required to do- e.g. cores), and then checking out the semester 1 timetables and figuring out what your draft timetable will look like. This way when classes are available/enrolment opens, you don't need to worry...
