Circle questions you struggle with. Re-do them at a later date. But focus predominantly on past papers.

    4u maths tips

Just grind more questions, it's as simple as that. Do all the questions in your textbook, then have a look at previous past papers, other textbooks, ask friends for tutoring college material - anything. The more the better. However, the most important thing is to keep track of the types of...

How common is it to switch degrees

    Don't worry, it's normal - we've all been there :)

How common is it to switch degrees

tbh it's more uncommon not to switch your degree at least once ahah

    Best scaling subjects?

Literally whatever you are interested in. No unis cares about what you studied in high school if you're applying for psychology (or most other degrees for that matter). Just get a good atar and you're fine.

    Lockdown

You are right. We need a metric (shouldn't be too hard to calculate) that includes both rate of hospitalisation with transmissibility. And yes, we don't know yet how effective the vaccines are against severe disease from omicron, but so far it seems to be holding up. Also the graph I linked...

    Lockdown

Actually we finally do have some good quality evidence that omicron carries a lower risk with regards to rate of hospitalisation. https://www.ft.com/content/19065fba-025c-43fd-bd76-37234af97953

    Best scaling subjects?

idk, I'm not that fussed that it wasn't offered. If anything, I appreciate that I was encouraged to explore other subjects rather than going all out 100% in science too early. I have my whole career for that.

    Lockdown

Yes, but the correlation between cases and hospitalisation is decreasing, so saying we are reaching record high cases isn't actually that bad if hospitalisations stay low.
  11. D

    Lockdown

We need to stop focusing on cases since we're all vaccinated. Cases are important, yes, but not a good metric anymore. We should be looking at hospitalisations. If that increases and overwhelms the hospitals, then we might have to have a conversation about locking down again. Otherwise, it...

    Alien life thread

Yes, definitely No, that's not how atoms work. Hydrogen is hydrogen, regardless of where it is in the universe. Sure it behaves differently under different conditions ie. high/low temperature, pressure etc.. , but it's still ultimately hydrogen I mean yeah, they'd be godlike to us if they...

    Need some uni degree advice

I guess you could kinda say that. Software Engineering has more practical applications whereas Comp Sci also has units that are purely programming, but also units that are purely theoretical and explore how computers/algorithms work in-depth. Generally I would recommend CS over SENG, but that's...

    Need some uni degree advice

I liked the idea of learning skills, rather than just content. I felt like that would be more useful in research. Also engineering was a backup if med didn't work out.

    Lockdown

Honestly, this is the first time Scomo has said something that is vaguely charismatic wtf they have 16 cases, that's ridiculous
  16. D

    Lockdown

Idk, I don't think it's likely unless deaths start increasing. We're super highly vaxxed so I don't think it would be worth locking things down once again.

uts or usyd for health science

Ehh, I don't know if there is that big of a difference. USYD may be harder/have better reputation, but UTS is a fine university too. If you want to do public health, you'd definitely want to be getting a MPH, so perhaps go to the university that gives you the best chance of getting that degree...

    Need some uni degree advice

Ehh, nah. USYD compsci is fantastic - genuinely the best run courses out of all the faculties imo. USYD engo is a bit worse, they do have their terrible lecturers from time to time, but my overall experience has been good. UNSW does have a much bigger compsci scene, and their society is much...

    Need some uni degree advice

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is the most versatile of the biological science majors, so you should be okay. But yeah, typically contract jobs. What I would suggest is going into seek, linkedin, indeed (job posting sites) and writing keywords such as biochemistry. See what pops up -...
